Tuesday is Take Your Cat to the Vet Day.

While some of the trip and the experience is not pleasant for cats, here are some of the good things that happen when cats go to the vet.

My first trip to see a vet was when I was spayed. That meant I didn't have to worry about kittens, or having kittens, or taking care of kittens, or the mean tom from down the road wanting to give me kittens, or what will happen to my kittens. Come to think of it, I don't like kittens much anymore. The cat who we think was my grandmother died from complications of having kittens, as did Truffles and Inky's mama.

The next time I went to the vet, the vet gave me (well, my human applied it) something to get rid of the ticks. I hate ticks. I hated when my human had to take a tick off so much... that I couldn't even sit there when he talked about taking ticks off other cats. So getting rid of those ticks was a good thing. Smile

Then I had something where I was dragging my behind after using the litter box. He took me to one vet who had a cat (it was a rainy morning), but that vet had to go to some farm. So we went to another vet, and they had a cat too. I got better.

The next time I went to the vet it was because I wasn't letting my human sleep. That vet, a nice lady, told him to play with me before bed, and make me hunt for my food during the day. That helps, and I don't think 2:30 am is playtime anymore. Unless he stays up too late.

This vet lady doesn't even make me get out of the carrier all the time. She has two or three kitties that live at the clinic (which is it, Binx?), and she offers nice treats to the kitties she examines. Well, some kitties like them. And there are places in the exam room where I can explore, and sometimes even hide.

So I guess going to the vet is not such a bad thing.

I didn't go to the vet when I lived on the farm except for that one time when we all got fixed. I peed in the carrier on the way home. So when I got sick, our human did what he could for me, which was mostly making sure I didn't wander off and become dinner for the coyotes. I didn't last very long when I came back so slowly that week. I probably would have done better had they had a vet see me.

Yes, I was a farm cat, but there was one human who loved me, and wonders if I would still be around had he been able to take me to a vet (or have a vet see me on the farm).

There's just two kitties at the vet now... me and Ranger. Mercy went to the Bridge last December.

So my vet story... the vet's daughter found me around town and took me to the vet. They tried to find if I had a home, then they tried a couple of homes (including with Parker, who didn't like playing as rough as I did) , and I wound up back at the vet. Wow, was that four years ago already? Well, almost. That vet, and her techs, play with me and make me chase my food. I also get some nice food and treats, and I get to see all the cats and dogs who come in, except some of the mean ones. I still play rough with Ranger sometimes Meow Out Loud .

That's me looking at Parker in her last picture.

The Man Who Tastes Like Chicken is what I call him, and I try to kill him. I like his wife, and the new lady vet. I also like Chelsea. I don't like to go there!! Kephri doesn't care, but he's a Kitten and silly! The last time I went they drugged me, but when I got home I tried to kill them!! Mom said the drug had a bad side effect on me. so no more drugs. YES mom, I know you called it a sedative, sheesh!! I don't have fun at the Man Who Tastes Like Chichens office,... but when I'm there neither do they!! MOL Kitty Kisses from Seshat and Kephri

I am two years old, I like to sit in the bathroom sink , steal socks and sit on the curtain rods!!
I has a Baby Brofur named Kephri
