Here are some tools to help find a veterinarian. Many of these work best in the US.

All links should open in new windows.

Find a Veterinarian and Practice

Veterinary clinics designated as Cat Friendly Practices® have proven they take extra steps that show they understand your cat’s unique needs. The program is designed to:

  • Help reduce the stress from visit to the veterinarian.
  • Improve the quality of care provided.
  • Support the veterinary team so that the entire staff has the knowledge and resources to understand cats’ distinct needs and behaviors.

To use the Care Credit Provider finder , choose Veterinary Animal/Pet Care for the profession and enter your ZIP code. Note that the results may not be sorted by distance. Care Credit is a minor credit card for human and veterinary care.

AVSAB has a search for a consultant; however, their website is having some problems. It does not currently search by distance at all, however; you must search by City and State, and then by City, ST., in case they abbreviated in their address.

Revolution® (selamectin) is a flea and parasite treatment. It is approved for cats and works against ticks on dogs. They have a listing of vets who prescribe their medicine.

You can click through to Find A Veterinarian Near You.

We have received no consideration for including this link, but Parker is treated with this medicine at our own expense.

They have updated the medicine to Revolution Plus. The new web site does not currently have a veterinarian directory.

Low Stress Handling® Provider search

From the Low Stress Handling website:

What is Low Stress Handling® Certification?

The purpose of this Certification in Low Stress Handling® is to provide the teaching content needed to understand and improve the individual or hospital’s ability to create a low stress environment and handle animals in a less stressful manner. Coursework for this Certification goes beyond the teaching available from Dr. Yin’s book (with complementary DVD) Low Stress Handling, Restraint and Behavior Modification of Dogs & Cats and related training videos. While these sources include improvements to the hospital’s design, to its preparation of and for the patient prior to a visit, and to its use of tools and sedative agents, a large portion of Low Stress Handling relies on the development of important hands-on skills.
